How the Mushroom Bat Came to Life
I am so excited to share and post about another popular bat plush I currently sell on my Etsy Shop, the Mushroom Bat Plush! Like my pink strawberry bat plush, my mushroom bat plush became super popular on social media. I was super excited and grateful that so many people fell in love with this cute adorable bat plush.
How did the Mushroom Bat Plush come to life? Well, it all started last year in November 2020, when a customer messaged me on Etsy.com asking if I can create a custom bat plush. They specifically asked me if I had a mushroom print in my collection of fabrics. I did not have any mushroom prints, so I looked for custom fabric prints on Spoonflower.com and other websites for cute mushroom prints to share various options with the customer.
There were six different mushroom print designs that I believed would look delightful on a bat plush. The customer selected a very popular and recognizable mushroom known in most cultures, the toadstool red mushroom with large white spots. I completely agreed with the them that the red mushroom with white spot fabric print minky fabric would look amazing on a bat’s inner ears and wings, while the main color should be white. Below is the final result from the collaboration:
Cute, right?! I love how this Mushroom Bat plush turned out!
Mushroom Bat Plush Collection
After completing the White Mushroom Bat Plush near the end of 2020, I did not offer this bat plush on my Etsy Shop for Pre-order until the beginning of 2021 after the Holiday season. As I mentioned in my last blog post, Japanese Cherry Blossom Bat Plush, I made some major changes to my bat plush listing by offering new options for customers to select when ordering a bat plush, including size, scent, and color choices. For the mushroom bat plush, though, I only made size and color options available. I wasn’t sure what scent would match well with the mushroom bat plush, so I stuck with just size and color options for now.
The most popular color order request from customers for the Mushroom Bat Plush is White, but I still get a few order requests for different colors. Below is a Black Mushroom Bat Plush:
I like how the Black Mushroom Bat Plush turned out and it is really cute.
I had one customer request a large size brown and regular size white mushroom bat plushies. Let me tell you, I think the brown color was a great color to select for the mushroom bat plush since it is so down to earth. See photo below:
Sparkle & Shine
For 2021, I was super ecstatic to find out that there were more color options for the Shannon Fabric Sparkle Cuddle® minky fabric collection. I love that I can purchase soft minky fabric with sparkles all over it! SO SHINY! I will admit that I had to retrain myself from purchasing all the twenty-two sparkle minky fabric colors available out there. I did reduce my purchase list to only eight different color variations, which was very painful to select this amount. I do not know how long I can restrain the urge to purchase more sparkle minky fabric, but if you
One of the colors that I ordered that I also made available an option on my custom color Mushroom Bat Plush Etsy Shop listing is Red Silver Sparkle minky fabric.
Mini Size Please
Now that I have shown you a couple of different color variations I have made so far for the Mushroom Bat Plushies, it is time to show cute mini size bat plushies!
Here are some pictures of mini mushroom bat plushies I have sewn!
CUTENESS OVERLOAD!! Every time I make a mini bat plush, I squeal like a little school girl. EEEEEEHHHH! They are too cute! I need to make an army of mini bats! Don’t be surprise if one day you see a post with a ton of mini bats…
Next photo is a size comparison between the black regular and mini size mushroom bat plushies:
Even though mini bats are the cutest little things, they can be little wiggle worms which adds some difficulty when taking photos. I made a GIF with all the photos I had to take to get one good family portrait. You will see how hard it is to take excellent photos of the mini bats when they are wild, energetic, and squirmy and cannot sit still for more than a few seconds.

Although it was rough capturing good photos, I still managed to get a good family portrait. Woohoo!
I used BeeZeeArt bat sewing pattern to make these cute bat plushies.
Thank you for stopping by!
